Ripe For Pleasure by Isobel Carr

This is the first book in Isobel Carr's League of Second Sons series. This book has everything that I love -- a good love story and a hero and heroine who you will come to love and care for. The story is about a missing royal treasure that Lord Leonidas Vaughn and his cousin Charles grew up hearing about from their grandfather. Neither one of them believe of the treasure until the grandfather dies and they find a bundle of letters regarding the treasure. From reading these letters they find out where the treasure is hidden. At the home Mrs. Viola Whedon a courtesan who is in the process of writing the second book in memoirs. Charles and Leo come up with a plan. Leo will seduce Viola while Charles searches the house. Viola wakes up and hears intruders in her bedroom, she thinks the intruders were sent by her ex-protector. She tries to leave the room as she is being chase by the intruders she runs in Leo who she thinks is her savoir. This starts the relationship of Leo and Viola. Leo takes Viola to his estate thinking that Viola will be safe there. We get to see the relationship grow between the two of them. I really enjoyed the jealousy of Leo's cousin Charles (who I think went totally mad in this book), the secret that Leo is hiding from Viola, the happiness of Leo falling in love with Viola and Viola finally finding love a second time. I laughed out loud when Leo's mother kidnaps Viola and whisks her away to her home in Scotland. I enjoyed the secondary characters in this book as much as I did the hero and heroine. Beau, Leo's younger sister who is used to scandal, the duchess who always gets her way, Pen the mongrel dog who works his way into Viola's heart and Leo and Leo's friends, all second sons. This author is Kalen Hughes writing now as Isobel Carr and I'm so glad that she's back as an author. ebook received from Net Galley for an honest review.

Treasure Me By Christine Nolfi

I have to say again thank you to Kim over at SOS America for the chance to review this book for her.

At first I was a little put off by the story line for this book. I really don't like reading books were the heroine is a thief. But since I told Kim I would give this book a honest review I jumped right in. I am so glad I did! I really enjoyed this book. I loved the town, the characters and just everything about it.

The book is about Bridie, she is a 31 year old pick pocket. She has been raised this way all her life with her own mother using her in some of her scams. She left her mother when she was 16 and has tried to go straight a few times. It just isn't the easiest of things to do. She get a letter from her mom that shows a article about a small town called Liberty, Ohio. She has always been told that there is a buried treasure somewhere that was was given to a free women by her great great great grandfather. It seems that he really loved Justice and gave her the means to build a life without slavery and he had always planned to join her. So after almost being caught Bridie decided to go to Liberty to see if she can find the treasure because after all it is part of her family.

The hero in this book is Hugh, he is a investigative report and things have not been going to well for him. He had written the original article about Liberty because one of the young girls who was dying and needed a bone marrow transplant. Because of this girl got the money for her

transplant and is doing very well. It looks like the web site were still up and the money was still coming in so Hugh went back to Liberty to expose the father as being a crook. He is a little hesitant about this because he doesn't want to make things worse for this family. He really doesn't want to see the dad being a crook, there has to be a reason for the web site still being up, but if he doesn't expose the family he will lose his job. Hugh has some moral issuues he needs to work out.

Bridie and Hugh end up sharing a apartment together and things really start to heat up. Hugh has to write this story and Bridie just want to find what is hers. You have some others things going on in this book and by the time ends comes around they are all tied together nicely.

I loved the supporting characters in this book. I loved Finney who ran the dinner. And what can you say about Theodora, what a women!! It was great to see Bridie find herself and to face all of the things she has done, yes she stole from the people of Liberty, but she never spent the money and was really starting to have feelings that she could really fit in somewhere. And when the whole story comes out she faces it instead running away.

This book was a wonderful read! I read it in one day, once I started it I could not put it down. I will be honest there were times I really could of bashed Hugh's head in, but it did all work out in the end. I would love to read more books about this little town.

I also would like to thank the author for sending me the print version of this book because right now it is only available on ebook through Amazon for the Kindle. If you want just a really good book, some laughs and just to see someone finding themselves, this book is it.

Jezebel's Wish by AJ Nuest

I would like to say thanks to Kim at SOS America for giving me the chance to review this book for her.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this book, while some parts were very good there were a few things that really bothered me. There is one part in the book that if I had known about it before hand I would not of read the book. I did the one thing I usually don't do in a book and read the last few pages because I suspected she was going do what I thought she was, since I was prepared for it it wasn't that bad, although I hated it. I also didn't like the fact that she smoked around the barn. After being raised around horses this was always a big no no.

The book is about Jezebel, or Jezzy as she likes to be called. She comes home to her mom's horse farm after her fiancee Jeffery is killed in a car accident. She has a lot of guilt built up because of this, on the day he died she had kind of wished it because he was being a total jerk to her and she suspected that he had been having an affair. But he died before she ever got any real answers. On the day of there last fight she knew it was over, I don't really understand why she spent so much time with this man, he was a royal jerk.

Enter in Dr. Matthias Saunders, who is the vet. Her mother pushes Jezzy to take riding lessons from Mattie and Jezzy says she will try it. I liked how Mattie, (hate the name) for a thirty two year old pushes Jezzy to start living again. He knows she is a better person then what she thinks she is. She starts to open up to The Reverend, who is a wonderful black stallion, as she is telling him all of secrets he just leans into her and listens. That is something that Jezzy needs so badly. I loved this part of the book. Jezzy opening up to something she is not used to, and finding out what a good listener The Reverend is. It brought back so many wonderful memories I had with my Blue, who looked a lot like The Reverend, and how he would just always be there for me. This part of the story really got to me because I know how true is is.

I liked how Mattie was with Jezzy. He wouldn't let hide her feelings. He spent time getting to know her letting her know her own worth. Jezzy is just afraid to love again and Mattie never really pushes her. Jezzy finally tells Mattie everything about what happened between her and Jeffery. Mattie is tyring to tell Jezzy not to let Jeffery ruin her life, she has grown and is not the same person, but Jezzy still has some guilty feeling and leaves.

I guess the whole thing is Jezzy had to leave so that she could find herself. I could kind of understand her guilty feelings over how Jeffery died, but from the way he treated her and she knew on the last day they were together that it was over, I think she carried the guilt thing a little to far. But in the end she does realize that what she had with Jeffery was fake and what she found with Mattie was the real thing.

Overall I did enjoy the book, I hated the names, but the book was a very good read and it brought back the wonderful times I had with my Blue, the good and the bad days.

Face of Danger by Roxanne St. Claire

It took me a day and half to read this book, I could not put it down. All I can say is I can't wait for the next one.

This book is the third of The Guardian Angelinos Series and is about Vivi Angelino and very Special FBI Agent in Charge Colton Lang. These two have been sparing back and forth with each other since the very first book and it just gets better in this book. Cole is looking for a promotion to the LA office because he had already lost one lady he loved and just couldn't face living in Boston anymore. But there is something about Vivi that draws him to her.

Vivi is really working hard in getting the agency off the ground and they are making a good success of it. Vivi goes off to LA thinking she could be a body double for a actress that just might win a Oscar, you see the past two best actress had been killed by somebody and the FBI really weren't sure if the killings were related or not.

Vivi gets the job of being a double for the actress , but she can't tell anybody that she got this job. Well, enter in Agent Lang and at first he isn't sure if it is Vivi or Cara. The story moves on from there with some other issues coming into the story.

I loved this book, had a very hard time putting it down. I loved the interaction between Vivi and Cole. I love how they come together and how they fall in love, how she just tears down his walls and make him loosen up a little. Even though this is part of a series it is very much a stand alone and the epilogue is wonderful. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Shiver Of Fear by Roxanne St.Claire

First off I have to say thank you again to SOS America for the chance to win this book!!! I fell in love with Edge of Sight, the first book in The Guardian Angelinos series. I thought the book was well done and have been looking forward to the second book in the series. I can honestly say that the second book was as good as the first.

This book is about Devyn and Marc. Both of them have some major trust issues. With Devyn, she was adopted as a baby and she found out that her birth father is one of the FBI's most wanted and her mother is a doctor in Biochemistry. She goes to warn her mother that people may know about her past with her father. When she gets to her mothers house she is threatened and told to stay away. Well , you know as well as I do she is not going to that. She she follows her mother to Ireland.

Marc, is a ex FBI and was badly burned by his first wife. He ended up having to put her in jail and lost his career with the FBI at the same time. Now he owns a gun shop and works with his cousins off and on. He really wants to get back into the investigative end of things. They are approached by a FBI agent who wants Devyn out of Ireland. So Marc goes off to Ireland.

You have allot going on in this book. Why do all these people want Devyn out of Ireland, and the more they get involved, you do get a little confused as to who is good and who is bad. Who is working for who, is the FBI holding things back, what is going on with the mother. I did get tired of Devyn talking about her bad DNA and how she was raised. OK, so she didn't have the best childhood with her adoptive parents, but I felt she harped on that just a little to much. I liked the fact that they didn't jump right into bed. They built up the trust in each other. Believe me when I say they both have major issues on that part.


I like how the story flowed and kept you guessing. I loved the ending and how St. Claire brought it all together. I really can't wait to read Vivi's story.

Eleven Scandals to Start to Win a Duke's Heart by Sarah MacLean‏

This book had me laughing and crying.  I was wondering how Sarah would make Simon likeable -- it took a while but she did.  It was fun seeing Julianna slowly break the ice around Simon's heart. 

Simon and Georgiana were both raised with no love, and always being told that they had a duty. I have to admit that I wanted to slap both of their mothers.  For Simon, it was always acting like Duke and never causing any scandal to his family.   God help him if he didn't follow

everything to a T.

  

The best part of this book -- watching Simon slowly melt and not wanting to be perfect.  Poor Juliana, when her mother came back and didn't know that she was in the room, then proceeded to  denounce her father. My heart died a little bit with hers, along with the scene in the barn that brought tears to my eyes. 

I love this book and didn't want to see it end.  I wish Juliana would have more lives.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Georgiana and Benedick each get their own story.

When You Dare by Lori Foster

This is the first book in her Men Who Walk the Edge series. 

I have to admit that this book totally blew me out of the water.  I really enjoyed Dare and Molly and how they both grew with the story.  Molly never had an "Oh poor me, I was kidnapped and I'm so feeling sorry for myself"  moment.  After the rescue I felt that Molly became more courageous.  We learn about Molly's upbringing from her sister Natalie's story in The Guy Next Door and for someone who was never shown any love except from her sister, I thought Molly grew up to be strong.  I love the fact that she was a romantic suspense writer and had a "muse."

Dare was an over the top Alpha hero who loved his dogs and treated them like they were his children.  (Gotta love a man for that.)  As they travel from Mexico to California to Kentucky and Ohio,  Dare will lay down his life for Molly, who has released feelings for him that I don't think he'd ever felt before. 

Molly's father and step-mother are typical "Society" people, only worrying about what other people would say.

I have to admit that I laughed at loud when Natalie and Jett enter Molly's apartment and we find Jett on the floor in a hold by Dare!   Gotta love two alphas snarling at one  another.

If you like a fast-paced, action book with hot sex scenes and a hero who loves his dogs and his best-friend Chris,  than this book is for you.
